Baking Cookies

A month ago.... for Valentines day. I'm a tad behind:

Buddy watching Chuck roll out the dough. We had to stop him from cutting, 'cause he kept just cutting one heart on top of the next one. He was going to fast, we couldn't keep up with lifting them onto the cookie sheet!!

Helping to spread out the flour so that they didn't stick tot he counter (I think that this was his favourite part)

PhotoStory Friday - Baking

The other night I made Brownies fo our dessert.... an event which Buddy enjoyed, for many different reasons!!
FIRST, he got to help stir.... THEN... he got to lick the scraper!!

Wow he licked that scraper right clean.... not a speck of chocolate left on it!

Look at that grin.....

I think he enjoyed this part even MORE than when he got to eat a Brownie!

Playing on the Snow...

Chuck takes Buddy out for a "wee!" (toboggan) most nights when we get home, then they go and play in the snow:

Monkey see, monkey do....

She stopped and fell down... that must be what I'm supposed to do right now too!

Wait for me!!

Strange place for a chat?

52 New Recipes - Chicken something or another

I cooked a whole chicken for Saturday, since I was expecting company, but the weather turned nasty, and they weren't able to make it.

So I had most of a chicken left over. All we ate on Saturday was the legs.

So I put a couple of inches of water in the dutch oven.

Poured in some frozen beans.

Pulled the chicken breast and any remaining meat off the bone and tossed it in, in large chunks.

Stirred.

Thought it looked a little too liquid, so added rice

Put on a pot of potatoes, with the thought of making a Sheppard's-pie like creation.

Took another look, and decided that maybe the potatoes were no longer needed, so they became a side dish. The chicken was pretty much shredded by this point.

It was very good with bbq sauce.... kinda like a chicken stew or something!

2 cups milk
1/2 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions
In medium saucepan over medium heat, heat milk until bubbles form at edges. In a bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Pour into hot milk, a little at a time, stirring to dissolve.
