Just in Case

We ever tried to forget that we live in the great white north:

It does look pretty, after it's done falling, and after my driveway has been cleaned though...

Kid's Rooms

The previous owner of the house pulled down the wall between the two kids rooms, and filled in one of the doors to the hallway. This left the house with two bedrooms upstairs and one on the mainfloor.

The main floor bedroom is our office / sewing room / hobby room etc. We aren't really ready for Little Raven to move down there yet.

So over the past few weeks, we've been re-doing the one upstairs room, including installing pocket doors between the two rooms, filling in all of the holes, painting, etc.

This wekend, we found the old doorway, and pulled the drywall off of it, finished sanding the wall on LR's side of the room, and cleaned all of LR's "things."

Here are the before shots:

And the after shots:

Right now LR's bed is on the side that will be the baby's, but we are working on her side right now so that she can be moved in soon, and it is easier to do that with that half empty!
She's choosen "under the sea" for her room, so we have under the sea wallpaper to put up, we've painted the room sea-blue, and we have a fish net to hang from the ceiling to store all the stuffed animals that she's-kind of-grown-out-of-but-not-really.
For the baby's half, we don't really have any firm decorating plans yet.

New Toy

Since hubby posted a link on the Cat 25 forum, and I seem to be generating a significant amount of traffic from there at the moment, here is his new toy:

It is a Catalina 25, fixed keel. We officially have a slip for her at the local marina this summer.
Little Raven has decided that she would like to take sailing lessons at the marina, so even though it is only a 20 minute drive away, we could sleep at the boat that week, then she'd be ready to go. I'm on the sailing school committee, so it will be good for me to be around the harbour during the school as well, and to have a base, expecially with a baby in tow by then.
We are planning on renaming the boat this spring.

Childhood Innocence

In the car on the way home from Daycare the other day:

Little Raven: "If the baby's a boy, what about the name Paul?"
Mama: "I think that we want to stay away from names that start with P, since our last name starts with P also. The kids at school could make fun of the baby, and call the baby Pee pee"
LR: "Mama, my school has an anti-bullying policy, and I've never been bullied there. I don't think that there is any bullying."

SnowFest

Last weekend, while Mama was on a course, Daddy & Little Raven went to SnowFest. I am still at a loss as to why we are celebrating snow. Where's spring already??
Here's LR with the local constabulary (She wouldn't pretend she was being arrested, Daddy tried):

And feeding the Llama's. The local paper also took a picture of her feeding the Llama's, which made it into the paper last week. She's famous now!!

Horseback riding. This has only increased the mantra of "can I get a horse? Can I get a horse?" The answer is still no. However, horseback riding lessons appear to be in the near future (or at least a daycamp this summer):

And finally looking out over the lake.

Snow Day

Last week, Little Raven and I took a snow day. This was mostly the reason why:
There's 200 feet of driveway behind the van to get out of, plus getting over the plow pile at the end... we rolled over and went back to sleep.

Later in the afternoon, I sent the rugrat outside so that she could get some fresh air (translate: I could get some peace and quiet). I looked out the front window to see this:

What the heck??

Yes, that's the kid in the snow....Um, what are you doing?

"Suntanning."

Right. Of course.

28 1/2 Weeks

In comparison, the "before" shot, at Five weeks:

Rabbit of the House

He is amazingly smart (for a bunny). For example, he knows he is not allowed upstairs. That is why he pretends to sleep, until you leave for another room, then he'll boot his little butt up there as fast as he can. And when you notice him and yell at him, he boots it back downstairs, runs right into his cage and sits there, looking at you: "Who me? upstairs? No, that wasn't me. I know that I'm not allowed up there. That must have been some other bunny you saw."

In Conversation

So this weekend, my child decided that someone may have buried a time capusle in our yard, and may she please have a shovel to go dig for it?

Never mind the foot of snow that's covering everything!
