On the Phone
My Brother calls most weekends, seeing as he lives far away.
Yesteday, I was on the phone with him, and Buddy crawled up into the chair and onto my lap.
Buddy: 'Lo Steve? 'Lo Steve?"
Steve: Hey Buddy, what are you up to?
Buddy: MOMMY!! It STEVE!! IT STEVE!!

Buddy's 2nd Birthday
two weekends ago, we all got together to celebrate Buddy's birthday ( a couple of weeks late, due to Easter and other commitments).
Since we have our entire front entrance and main floor bathroom ripped out, we moved the celebration to Grandma & Grandpa's house (collectively known by Buddy as "Baba," or sometimes just Ba! Ba! BaBaBa! He hasn't seemed to figure out the difference in pronunciation yet.)
Buddy wearing birthday hats with his Uncles. Buddy was not so very interested. He had to be coerced. I hear that there may have been cake? We'll give you cake if you wear a hat Buddy!
You don't want to wear a hat? That's ok, we'll just wear them then.

More presents?
Books.... "Mommy, book? book? book Mommy?"
Playing tractors with my uncles.
Mommy baked the cake Thursday night. Buddy helped lick the spatula. And check to see if it was done. Every time the timer went off to go check it, he'd take off running for the kitchen.
Even when we were in the backyard.
Then, Friday morning, he came downstairs for breakfast.... and there was CAKE on the table. And the poor little guy just couldn't figure out why he wasn't allowed to eat any!!
Then Friday night, I iced it... and Saturday morning, Buddy got up, and went downstairs on his own... all of a sudden I heard cake! CAKE! I ran so fast down those stairs. I had visions of him pulling the whole thing down on himself. When he actually got to eat it... he was excited!!
He tried to blow his own candles out, but Mommy got a little nervous at how close his hair was coming to the flame. She blew them out quick while he was trying!

BIG Family Wedding
This weekend is my Cousin's wedding, in London Ont.
At first, BB was going to stay with a sitter. Then, I realized that pretty much anyone who could care for him for the full 24 hours would be AT THE WEDDING. right. We would need to drop him off at around 1:00 on Saturday afternoon, and then not get him until 1:00 on Sunday, or possibly earlier on Saturday / later on Sunday, depending on where the person bbsitting lived.
And then I realized:
1) He stayed with Grandma last weekend while Mommy was camping and Daddy was sailing
2) He stayed with Daddy the weekend before when Mommy was at the Church conference
3) This would be the third weekend in a row that he would be without Mommy
4) There will be so many aunts / uncles/cousins/grandmas/ etc. at the wedding, that there will be TONS of people to take turns.
5) He would be the only memeber of the family (5 children & spouses, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren) who would not be there.
6) This will be the first time that EVERY member of the family will be at a function since my wedding in Augist 2007
So he is going. And now I need to figure out exactly how much stuff to pack. Because I need a playpen, highchair (maybe) baby monitor (maybe) etc. It is a fine line between taking what I need, and taking too much.

Happy Birthday Little Buddy!!
So, in all of the excitement of returning to work, I may have forgotten to mention something.
If I could just remember what it was….
Oh yeah, my boy turned One!
So, you’re waiting for the photo of the melting down baby now, right? ‘Cause with all the excitement of the party, it’s bound to happen?? Well, due to some careful planning by Mama, there were no meltdowns!! Yeah for a happy boy!!
We had his party a week early, ‘cause his birthday was the day before Easter. So that morning, Daddy, Big Sis, & Mama went to church as normal, and the Buddy Boy stayed at home with Mama’s cousin. He had a nice quiet morning, an early lunch, then an early nap… so he was fresh and ready to go for the festivities at two!
Umm… mama… what is that burning thing that you’re bringing towards me??
Cousin Katelyn helped the Buddy blow out his candles, since her birthday was um… yesterday? Two days ago… Oops… HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATELYN!!
Ohh… This stuff tastes good… you say this stuff is cake… I think I like cake.
I like Cake a lot… is there anymore of that Cake stuff left??
No? Well, I’ll hang out with Uncle Mike then. He’s wearing funny hat like I was!
Hey… this is a cool new toy!!! Mama, look at Grandma & Katelyn & I playing with my new toy!!
Ack!! There’s a girl in here!! Run away!
